Shea's family lived their worst nightmare in October 2019 when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the start of Shea's junior year in high school. She received treatment at Stanford’s Lucile Packard Children's hospital in the Bay Area, and in February of 2020 she received the fantastic news of being in remission! It hasn't been an easy road, but Shea's amazing family and support from the community have helped her throughout.
Besides being a kick-ass cancer warrior and survivor, Shea is super creative and enjoys photography and planning artistic shoots. She didn't want a typical senior portrait session! Her vision was to shoot at Paradise Trading Post for a retro vinyl and music-inspired session. The owner of Paradise was so accommodating, and we got lots of fun shots with the records. We even borrowed a vintage turquoise Rickenbacker guitar for Shea to pose with.
Thank you so much Shea for choosing me as your senior portrait photographer, and for bringing your creative spirit, fun personality, and your favorite records to our shoot! I wish you nothing but health and happiness ahead!

Last blog post for 2020 and this is a special one! I was so excited to shoot Shea's senior portraits back in October for several reasons. First, Shea is a talented theater kid and I've enjoyed watching and photographing her onstage for years. Second, Shea is a cancer survivor, and that makes her pretty amazing in my book. And finally, Shea had a creative vision for her session which she wanted to take place at Paradise Trading Post, a vintage record and collectibles shop in Orcutt, California.
