Family portrait sessions can be such a good time, and the Douglas family definitely brought the positive energy and fun vibes to their shoot in December! We decided on the Los Osos Oaks State Reserve as the location, and it did not disappoint. Even in the winter the magnificent oak trees make a fabulous backdrop for portraits.
Making this shoot extra special was the inclusion of Jamie's mom who lives with the family. It's so worth the time and effort to capture memories with our loved ones!

I always include a few black and white portraits in my client galleries. I love the timeless look of monochrome and some portraits really lend themselves to this format.

This family did a fantastic job with wardrobe selection for their shoot. It's a common myth that solid colored outfits are best for portraits. This is not necessarily true! A combination of solids alongside prints, plaids, and stripes worked so well for this family. In addition, the blend of textures in their outfits added interest. A few accessories including jewelry and hats made their looks compete while at the same time, their outfits appear to be effortless and comfortable.
