Babes in Toyland 2017 featured its largest cast ever: over 80 dancers ranging from age 5 through adult as well as the CCYB company dancers. New scenes, characters, and choreography made the show fresh and engaging, even for those who have been in the audience every year since the show was first staged in 2008.
Artistic Director Tara Behnke did an outstanding job of putting the show together. The maypole dance (pictured below) was a new addition that was visually stunning and loved by audiences. It was so much fun to capture this all the colorful elements of this professional-caliber production.
In December I had the pleasure of shooting Coastal Chamber Youth Ballet's fairytale ballet Babes in Toyland. Every year I look forward to shooting this wonderful show. But this year was extra special, as it marked the 10th anniversary for this amazing production which has become a favorite holiday tradition on the central coast.
